Aquarina is vibrant with Volunteerism. The recent Board’s Newsletter (a regular political missive) was themed with folks and their community efforts. Photos were galore of these neighbors and their smiling faces. All of this is good stuff, indeed.
Unfortunately, as all this energy was noted and documented in the Newsletter, there is still an Aquarina that remains neglected and tired in appearance, which this Blog has continuously disclosed. The lawn areas along the front roadway and at our entrance (all being the first impression of Aquarina) have been abandoned, resulting in a dehydrated lawn death, while the AGI businesses soak up the Residents’ funds, and enjoy the suggested and directed Board Volunteer projects.
Attention to the Aquarina entrance, i.e. signage, accent lighting, vegetation, and the paver roadway should certainly take precedence over the efforts spent and the Residents’ funds spent on oiling the community’s social network. But remember that the Board has an agenda, mainly golf and fun, and the Board needs a Resident consensus for supporting this agenda, which it constantly feeds.
The Board President appears haggard and ragged; it’s stressful to maintain a political following for an agenda, when you use the Residents’ funds to subsidize a small cabal within the community and not the whole community in a measured fashion, especially when you know it’s selfish, unfair, and, more so, unethical. Maybe the Board President’s exhausted countenance is his physical self, telling him to step down for his well-being. His stepping down would be the best action taken for the Aquarina Community as a whole since his tenure began.
BE AWARE
The Kahama settlement, which in itself, was a total boondoggle and a waste of the Residents’ funds, was intended to result in the moneys from the settlement to be used for a community pool. The best location for this pool would be the empty parcel adjacent to the Community Center parking lot. I can tell you, that a nicely thought out pool and deck area would absolutely add significant added value to all the homes in Aquarina. However, beware of the current Board and its cabal grasping at these predestined funds to rather sustain their golf and social agenda.
MISPLACED SPENDING
AGI soaks $100’s of thousands of dollars on salaries, e.g. an AGI Business Director (we have salaried folks already running these businesses) and an allegedly overpaid Onsite Property Manager. BTW – do you know what these folks are individually being paid? We have a statuary right to know.
A portion of these salaries should be directed to fund a daily maintenance crew to
- Clean the Beach Club House and Community Center.
- Clean all community bathrooms.
- Hose down the beach crossover areas.
- Keep refuse areas clean and orderly.
- Patrol the community for pickup of garbage and debris, and identify and correct irrigation issues.
As a resort type community, with nearly 400 family units, the community needs a daily maintenance schedule, and not a schedule based on a “As needed basis”.
